Wooden Huia Feather - Koru Motif
Wooden Huia Feather - Koru Motif
A Gift of Friendship and Respect
‘The huia feather is a revered treasure for Maori and symbolises leadership and mana. The feathers from the tail of the huia were particularly prized and were worn in the hair or around the neck by both men and women. Given as a token of friendship and respect they symbolise leadership and mana.’
The koru, often used as a symbol of creation, is based on the shape of an unfurling fern frond. Its circular shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, and its inward coil suggests a return to the point of origin.
The Huia Feather is a 60cm approx. carved wooden piece of art that is gift wrapped and ready to hang.
